A Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) is a record of inspection done on commercial motor vehicles in accordance with FMCSA's Safety Regulation - Part 396 Section 11.
In order to create a DVIR with in the Maven ELD application, the application must be connected to your truck with Bluetooth on your Android device enabled and with the driver's HOS duty status set to On Duty.
When changing your HOS status, simply tap on the HOS button in the very top right corner of the Maven ELD application home screen. It should say OFF (meaning Off Duty) by default. If you tap on it once, it brings up the Change Duty Status screen.
In the Change Duty Status screen, update your duty status from Off Duty status to On Duty status in preparation for creating your DVIR with in the Maven ELD application. Driver needs to account for spending at least 15 minutes in On Duty status to complete your vehicle inspections.
Click the Save button in the upper right corner to update your current duty status to that of On Duty while returning the user to the Maven ELD application home screen.
Click the DVIR button located in the bottom lower left hand corner of the Maven ELD application's home screen to view a listing of all the inspection reports for the vehicle that your Maven ELD application that the driver created in the last 8 days.
Click the Add Report button to create your DVIR for the commercial motor vehicle currently connected to your Maven ELD application.
Under the Inspection Details section of the Create Report page select the type of report that you would like to create and click into the Associated Trailers field where you can enter any trailer number(s) that you many currently have hooked up to your vehicle at the time of conducting your driver vehicle inspection.
ADD any Defects that you identified during your vehicle inspection prior to submitting your DVIR report by clicking the Submit button located in the upper right hand corner of the Create Report page.
Select one of the two possible options presented to you based on your findings that you noted during your DVIR.
Once you have declared that your commercial motor vehicle is either SAFE or NOT SAFE to drive you can electronically sign your inspection report by clicking the SIGN INSPECTION REPORT button.
A record of your recently completed Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) will be listed on this page from which you can click on the carrot to the right of it to display your Inspection Report Detail Summary.
You will see all reports submitted by other drivers for the same vehicle in the past 8 days.
The Inspection Report Detail is a record created by the commercial motor vehicle driver in which spending a mere 15 minutes to make sure that your entire truck is safe to be operated makes the act of creating an Inspection Report the cheapest insurance policy you can buy.
Clicking on the HOS button located in the lower right hand corner of this page will take the user back to the Maven ELD application home screen.
