One of the most important parts of getting your Maven ELD up and running is connecting all of the devices to each other. This includes the VDA (vehicle diagnostic adapter), a mobile device with the Maven Machines app installed, and your vehicle. This is a very straightforward process, and this quick guide should help walk you through that process.
The first step is to make sure you have all of the components ready that are listed above (VDA, tablet or smart phone with app, your vehicle). Plug the VDA into the diagnostic port on your truck and turn the vehicle on.
The VDA can be plugged in when the vehicle is off, but the engine must be started for the pairing to occur. When the VDA is properly attached, open the Maven Machines app on your tablet and log in. Your mobile device should also have a connection to the internet and Bluetooth should be turned on.
Once you are logged in, you can start the pairing process. You should see a truck icon with a question mark on it in the top right corner of the app screen (Image 1). Tap on that to begin pairing. If this is the first time you are pairing with a vehicle, the search should produce a result for an “Unknown Vehicle” (Image 2). That will appear in purple on the list. Tap on that to create your vehicle in the system. You should then see a screen that has the VIN number for your vehicle. Confirm that it is correct, give the vehicle a name and tap “Add Vehicle”.
Once that is done, the VDA should connect. You can confirm the connection by closing the window on the screen (tap close in the top corner) and looking at the small image of the truck in the top right corner. It will have a green check mark over it if you are connected. You can now begin your drive!
