Once you receive your Maven hardware in the mail, the next step is to get the ELD paired with your vehicle. In order to do this you will need to make sure you have a few things on hand. First and foremost, you will want to be in your vehicle. The following items are also necessary:
- Android device with Maven Machines app installed
- VDA (Vehicle Data Adapter, sent to you in the mail)
- Any necessary adapters (not needed If vehicle has J1939 diagnostic port)
- Tablet charger (not necessary to pair, but is good to keep near)
Along with these physical items, certain conditions have to be met before the device will pair with your vehicle. First, you will want to make sure that Bluetooth and WiFi are activated on your Android device. Next you will want to make sure the Maven application is downloaded from the Google Play Store on to your Android device. Also make sure the VDA is plugged in to the vehicle's diagnostic port completely and the locking mechanism around the outside of the device is engaged (twist outer ring to the right until it clicks). Lastly, You will want to make sure your vehicle is running (the engine must be started, not just the key engaged).
If you have all of these items and conditions satisfied, you are now ready to start the pairing process. You can read an article on how to do that, here.
